UBD Students in Penang Show Patriotism


Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) students participating in the One Semester Exchange Student Programme under ASEAN University Network (AUN) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Pulau Pinang, Malaysia hosted a thanksgiving gathering and Hajat prayers in conjunction with Brunei's 27th National Day at their residence.

The four students are Nuur Aqilah bte Hj Zainal Ariffin, Asdina Adenan and Abdul Azri Rahmat bin Abdul Ghani who are taking BA Public Policy and Administration, as well as Amalina bte Abdul Khalid who is taking BA Sociology and Anthropology.

"On behalf of the Brunei students studying in Malaysia, particularly in Penang, we would like to wish the Bruneians and not forgetting the government of Brunei 'Happy 27th National Day'. We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the government of Brunei Darussalam, Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, Universiti Brunei Darussalam and ASEAN University Network for giving us a great opportunity to undergo student exchange in Universiti Sains Malaysia," expressed by Nuur Aqilah who is minoring in Environmental Management in Universiti Sains Malaysia.

According to Asdina (HRM minor), "We are proud to present Brunei as young ambassadors of Brunei Darussalam not only to Malaysians but also to our international friends from Netherlands, Finland, Germany, Belgium, Mexico, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Philippines, Thailand and Canada."

"Life in Brunei is a splendid thing because our independence was not through bloodbath or rebellion, but it was through wisdom. So, I am proud to be a Bruneian because through wisdom with the sense of nationalism and loyalty, all Bruneians will live in peace and prosperity," said Abdul Azri Rahmat who is minoring in Accounting and Finance.

"On the night of the National Day, we all gathered to watch His Majesty's titah, and we realised how grateful we are to be Bruneians. Bruneians must also realise not to abuse all the benefits that are given by the government of His Majesty. I wish everyone a 'Happy National Day', and keep the patriotism alive," said Amalina who is majoring in Sociology Anthropology in Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Brunei Students Perform in Malaysia


A group of 15 Bruneian students were invited to perform at a ceremony held in conjunction with the 27th National Day of Brunei in Malaysia. The event was held at the Royale Chulan Hotel. The performance comprised a theatrical play on Lela Menchanai, Silat Betawi Titi Batang and Aduk- Aduk. This was the first of such performance organised by the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam in Malaysia in collaboration with the Brunei Student Council.
